Skins Racing started out as Summit 6 Racing, which got its start through a string of e-mails between six guys from the 2007 AE Sport team. We needed a new direction and were excited by the thought of forming our own team with our own identity and goals. So the six of us, who raced nearly all of the races in 2007 together, decided to form a team within the ACA for 2008. Summit 6 Racing was born.

The core identity of the team was centered around a Masters (35+ Open) team of guys who would race together. Although we had different talents and interests, the main focus was that we wanted to race. A lot. With the 2008 season quickly approaching, we started looking for sponsors, both big and small, as well as a few new team members. Most of our members were guys we raced with the year before who we felt were representative of who we are as a group. We wanted guys who were respected in the peloton for their skill but also for their sportsmanship. So our core group of guys grew and we enveloped some other racers we had met and respected over the years. While our goal is to be successful and win races as a team, we are also driven to continue to be respected by our peers and grow as individuals.

The sponsors began to roll in and soon we found ourselves riding Ridley Bikes with Rolf Prima Wheels. The icing on the cake came when we secured our title sponsorship with Skins Performance Wear. This changed our team name to Skins Racing and has given us the motivation to garner big results in the future. 2009 brings new members and new sponsors. The future certainly looks bright for Skins Racing.
